Incorporated in 1821 along the scenic shores of Long Island Sound, Bridgeport is one of the oldest urban communities in North America and a busy commercial center. As the largest manufacturing city in Connecticut, Bridgeport boasts over 500 industries and businesses, providing a wealth of valuable products and services, as well as employment to its residents and surrounding communities.

Bridgeport is bursting with historic districts, recreational facilities, and is one of Fairfield County’s greatest culturally diverse communities. The city is best known for its many recreational attractions such as the Beardsley Zoo, Barnum Museum and its nationally-famed minor league baseball team, the Bluefish. It’s also the home to the University of Bridgeport, which draws students from all over the world, Sacred Heart University and Housatonic Community College.

An aggressive city revitalization effort includes plans for corporate offices, commercial establishments and banking centers in the downtown area. Convenient access to interstate highways and the Connecticut Turnpike, excellent rail (Amtrak and Conrail) and ferry services provide convenient travel to other major cities and add to the commercial appeal of Bridgeport.
